I doubt many people read the captions, but they are needed to see that your pinned images get found by others through the Pinterest search engine. Perfect for companies that cater to women and lifestyle topics, but is surprisingly growing in subject areas beyond the classic niches of home/food/family/style.
For one of my clients, I created templates (shown here) that he adds text to in order to create his own pins. This is an economical way for him to have custom images.
These are examples of boards, the organizing system in Pinterest. Be sure to use keywords in the board titles, which will help them be seen, as well as in the board description. The captions for the actual pins—or images—also need careful crafting to get noticed.
